One of the things I love most about the Moroccanoil range is that it contains no Sulfate-Phosphate or Parabens. If you have colour-treated hair, avoid products with Sulfates as they will wash the colour out quicker. Also, I have found that shampoos with Sulfates irritate my scalp more than those without. I always had a really flaky scalp until a year ago when I started opting for Sulfate-free shampoos and since then I have had no problem at all.
The shampoo has a thick consistency but it is also pretty concentrated so that you don't have to use a lot. I like rubbing the shampoo over my palms before applying it and then working one hand into the top and one hand into the bottom part of my scalp. I have really thick, long hair and this way I get an even spread of product. Also, because I have a dry scalp I don't like to rinse and repeat; I find it dries it out more and the dryer your scalp, the quicker your hair will become oily.
This shampoo doesn't foam too much, but don't let this put you off. As soon as you start rinsing it foams and spreads nicely and it cleans thoroughly.
The Moroccanoil Extra Volume conditioner has a light quality and a bit sweeter smell than other Moroccanoil hair care products. About a heaped-teaspoon sized amount was enough to cover all my hair. I lightly towel dry my hair before applying conditioner so that the product doesn't get watered down and drip down the drain. I will then start by working conditioner into my tips and mid-lengths so that it is concentrated here, and add just a little to my scalp. Use a wide tooth comb with round-tipped teeth to comb the conditioner through your hair, starting at the tips and working your way up. This will prevent hair from breaking. The Moroccanoil conditioner is left in for 1-2 minutes before rinsing.
The shampoo and conditioner left my hair seriously soft with a healthy looking, soft shine. It's not going to give you 80's bounce, but my hair did feel light and it was really easy to manage.
Moroccanoil products don't come cheap but they are worth the investment. You can buy them at selected salons across the country. Visit www.twincare.co.za to get info on the brand locally and www.moroccanoil.com to view the brand's full story.
